As part of their history homework, the year 5 pupils in Rowan class at Grove Junior School were asked to present a Greek myth in any way, shape or form that they wished.

They had the option of choosing to use ICT, but this was not a prerequisite.

Emily was inspired by an example of a “talking chin” she had seen on youtube and decided to adapt the idea for her homework.

Talking to an “expert”

Unlike the example she had seen, Emily does not just speak through Chinnegan McFinnegan, the chin person she created.

The chin person is introduced as an expert on Greek myths and Emily interacts with it, to clarify aspects of the Greek myth. She uses a  question and answer approach to share a  myth with the class.

The idea of an designing an electronic puppet which can be engaged in conversation, links well to the physical Greek puppets which the class made during their work on the topic.

Emily plans to build on this engaging and interesting approach, developing her use of film and animation to support her learning in other areas of the curriculum.
