We were very pleased that Tim Ryland was able to be our keynote speaker. He demonstrated, throughout the session, that he was first and foremost a good teacher who exploits ICT to inspire all learners. Tim challenged us all to consider how ICT can be used very simply and creatively to stimulate children with their writing, speaking and listening. Through using an inexpensive computer game, Myst, Tim was able to show how children, of all ages, become excited and involved with their learning. He reminded us that we all live in a visually rich world in which can be harnessed effectively to enthuse all children and young people. Tim encouraged us all to think ‘outside the box’ and to use ICT to empower learners. We were very pleased that Tim Ryland was able to be our keynote speaker.
