The theme for this year’s Hertfordshire ICT Conference ICT To Inspire, Challenge and Empower all Learners.

With Oscar welcoming everyone to the conference the day was bound to be a great success.

There were thirteen workshops to choose from and delegates were able to focus on their individual requirements together with considering future ICT developments.  The exhibition enabled us all to look at a broad range of resources, many new and innovative, to ask questions and to consider their value for learning.

We were very pleased that Tim Ryland was able to be our keynote speaker. He demonstrated, throughout the session, that he was first and foremost a good teacher who exploits ICT to inspire all learners.   Tim challenged us all to consider how ICT can be used very simply and creatively to stimulate children with their writing, speaking and listening.   Through using an inexpensive computer game, Myst, Tim was able to show how children, of all ages, become excited and involved with their learning.  He reminded us that we all live in a visually rich world in which can be harnessed effectively to enthuse all children and young people.  Tim encouraged us all to think ‘outside the box’ and to use ICT to empower learners.
