Case Study School No: 301 Voting System
Presdales School trialled the use of a Classroom Performance System (CPS) voting system over the autumn term 2006. They used a 32 handset infra-red system and CPS software to create and present questions. Zoe Ross, the teacher who used the system, gave this feedback: “My students and I have thoroughly enjoyed using the voting system. The students have engaged with the lessons very effectively when it has been used and have requested to use it in every lesson. I have enjoyed the extra dimension it has given to my teaching, particularly as when used as a plenary to assess pupil understanding of the lesson. The equipment was very easy to use and the software extremely simple to navigate around, although I am sure I have not been using all the functions available! I have at times found it difficult to think up questions that would test the most able students due to the multiple choice format. Also sometimes I simply have not had the time to get a quiz ready for the class. Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate to use the system again and would thoroughly encourage anyone to try it out and buy one if possible. It’s great fun in the classroom and a great assessment tool.” |
