FREE Presentation: Video-Conferencing and Autism
Do children with autism benefit from the use of a video-phone?

Extensive use of video-conferencing in Hertfordshire special schools since 2001 has indicated that some children with autism respond well to using this technology. E2BN have funded a research project which aims to investigate whether the use of a video-phone encourages similar or even more social interactions between children with autism and their teacher compared with face-to-face interaction, over a period of 6 months. 24 children with autism, aged between 6 and 14 took part, from 6 special schools in Hertfordshire.

The results of this study are being presented at Hertfordshire Development Centre at 4pm on 22nd February 2007 led by Winand Dittrich and George Georgiou from the Experimental Psychology Unit at the University of Hertfordshire. This will be of interest to SENCOs, special school staff and anyone with an interest in autism.
