Digital Blue camera...Alban Wood Infant & Nursery school is a two-form entry school with approximately 200 pupils. The school has recently invested in 4 Interactive Whiteboards and is committed to improving the use of ICT across the school and then using this to enhance the rest of the curriculum.

Click to view larger image...Prior to starting the project, it was important for the children to be introduced to the Digital Blue Video Camera and how to use the basic functions. To achieve this, I worked with small groups of children. I showed them how to record a section of film, how to add sound, images, text and transition effects.

I used the Digital Blue Video Camera on 2 occasions over the Autumn Term with my mixed Year 1/2 class of 30 children – covering 2 areas of Literacy.

In my first project, I used the Digital Blue to support Literacy work on instructions – ‘To read simple instructions in the classroom, recipes, plans’ (13). ‘To note key instructional features’ (14).

On my weekly Literacy plan I have highlighted areas where I have used the camera during the week.

In my second project, I used the Digital Blue to support Literacy work on familiar story themes, retelling stories and sequencing events in stories – On my weekly Literacy plan I have highlighted areas where I have used the camera during the week.
