Using the Digital Video Camera to Support Literacy

Project Description

After an introductory session at HDC on how to use the cameras and the software and with the support of the advisers the project schools were given a camera to take back into their classrooms. The project objective was to create resources to support use of the Digital Video Camera in Literacy and at the same time to develop the use of ICT in Literacy.

Digital Blue camera...The camera used in this project was: Digital Movie Creator by Digital Blue (we purchased from Tag), The Digital Movie Creator is an easy-to-use digital video camera and movie-making software package that allows children to use the PC to script and star in their own feature movies.

Three Hertfordshire Primary schools took part:

  1. Alban Wood Infant School (757)
    Debbie Harvey worked with her reception class
  2. Woolgrove MLD school (628)
    Richard Pritchard worked with his year 4/5 class
  3. Aboyne Lodge Primary school (423) where
    Catherine Joy worked with year 1 and Year 6 classes

The project objective was to create resources to support use of the Digital Still Camera in Literacy and at the same time to develop the use of ICT in Literacy.

Logitech ClickSmart 510 ...The camera used in this project was: Logitech ClickSmart 510 (we purchased from Tag), They also received “Image Blender” software which enabled them to do lots of creative things with their pictures.

    Natasha Huxstable worked with her Reception class
