During the Spring term 2010 The Reddings Primary and Nursery School in Hemel Hempstead ran a project in Year 6 using Nintendo DS gaming consoles, together with brain training software: More Brain Training by Dr. Kawashima: How Old Is Your Brain?

From September 2008 to July 2009 Wilbury Junior School in Letchworth Garden City has been running a pilot in Year Six, involving the use of one-to-one personal digital assistants (PDAs.)

The PDAs offer a variety of multimedia tools which can be used for learning, including internet access, animation tools and a voice recorder. Every child in the year had access to their own device, which they were able to take home if their parents/carers agreed, and which accompanied them throughout the school day. More...

The “best of both worlds” project is being run jointly by the Hertfordshire CSF Gifted and Talented, Geography and ICT Teams. Its central objective is to develop the creative use of ICT with able pupils to support understanding in Geography.

As each phase of the project is to be hosted by a secondary school and involve local primary schools, an ancillary perspective is as a transfer project, supporting links between schools. Phase 1 of the project was run in Stevenage and involved Barnwell School and six local primary schools. More...

St. Luke’s School in Redbourn is a school for children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) in the 10 – 16 age range. There are approximately 150 students in the school. Watling View School in St. Albans is a school for children and young adults with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), with pupils and students aged between nursery age and 19. Digital MicroscopeDigital Microscope

This project aimed to raise awareness of the Intel Microscope, which every school received as part of Science Year 2001, as a versatile and powerful teaching and learning tool. Three schools worked to explore and develop activity ideas and lesson plans that used the microscope and also that were linked to a curriculum area (science, art and geography).

Each of the 3 schools looked at why and how the microscope could be used in a different phase – Foundation, Key stage 1 and key stage 2.
