Healthy Schools Adviser - Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health

In a country-wide first, CAMHS and Hertfordshire Healthy Schools have developed an innovative new post to promote mental health and emotional wellbeing in schools. Deborah Sheppard took up the post in January to close the gap between the health and education sectors.

In September 2005, emotional health and wellbeing (including bullying) became a core requirement of the Healthy Schools Programme. Through signposting schools and a range of services to each other and exploring preventative approaches through curricular opportunities, Deborah will also seek to address the vision of the CAMHS strategy.

Deborah will be responsible for co-ordinating the next Feelin’ Good Week after its successful launch last year. Sharing examples of good practice and partnership working will be other key features of her work, and Deborah would like to invite anyone with an interest in mental health and emotional wellbeing in the school setting to share their thought and ideas with her.
