Why an Accreditation?

Schools that are keen to ensure they have rigorous policy and procedure in place to prevent and respond to bullying may wish to register to work towards achieving the HAA.

How the Accreditation Works

Thank you for considering joining the growing community of schools that are working towards achieving the Hertfordshire Accreditation Programme.   The scheme is Hertfordshire’s flagship approach for raising standards in anti-bullying and is a kite mark for high quality anti-bullying work.  This paper will give you an outline of what is involved in the process.

Resources to Support

Resources to Support Schools in the Accreditation Process

The following resources will be sent to all schools on completion of their registration process

  • Welcome portfolio form
    can be used variously to:
    • review your starting points and develop an action plan
    • assist you in gathering relevant and appropriate evidence for your portfolio
    • attach to your accreditation portfolio
  • Launch and consultation presentations
Powerpoint presentations will be provided that can be used to introduce the school’s participation in the accreditation programme to staff, governors, parents and pupils.  They can also be used to stimulate and collect consultation feedback against the 8 accreditation criteria, to assist in the school’s assessment in the effectiveness of their current policy and practice and preparation of portfolio evidence.
  • Guidance: The role of the named governor
A guidance paper that details the function of a named governor for anti-bullying.  This role can be discrete or be linked to an appropriate existing responsibility, e.g. safeguarding governor
