Gifted and Talented Newsletter
Autumn Term 2012Welcome to the second Hertfordshire Gifted and Talented newsletter. At a time of change in schools, with a revised Ofsted framework and the introduction of the Teachers’ Standards, it is a perfect time to reflect upon your provision for your pupils with high learning potential. Are you inspiring them and challenging them to make progress in every lesson? Do your teachers ’have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those of high ability, and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.’ (Teachers’ Standards , 2012) . The quality of teaching section in the revised Ofsted framework (September 2012) states that inspectors will be evaluating whether ‘work is challenging enough for all pupils and meets their individual needs’ so improving provision in the classrooms will be a priority in many schools. This newsletter will guide you through news, events and ideas to support your school with developing this aspect of your work. Val Hazell
