Good Practice Case Study
School Number 120 Using ICT and Geography to Develop an Understanding of the Local Environment
Video:
Pupils at St Nicholas, investigated how local people use the Fairlands Park near the school. They carried out surveys to guide a future plan for improving the park. They even interviewed a stop animation frog! View the abridged version of the video below:
Teachers' comments: "A very challenging and rewarding project. which provide a wonderful opportunity to stretch the children with higher level language and thinking skills. It also gave them a great opportunity to try to plan and organise themselves to produce a lot in a short time scale. The children involved have since been able to help groups of their peers to produce stop animation films. The digital blue cameras have also been used by many other year groups in the school." Comments from children working on the project:
Images from the video showing leisure pursuits and a map of the park.
