Channelmogo
Introduction
www.channelmogo.org is the Hertfordshire Children's Trust Partnership's new online interactive website for young people in the county which includes information on a range of topics important to young people.
This inter-active website offers vidcasts, mp3 downloads, competitions and opportunities for discussion using Channel Mogo discussion boards and webchats. Young people have the opportunity to contribute their own videos, music and creative writing to the web site.
It is also a great way for young people to find out what is happening in their own area and across the county, as well as publicise their own events. It is free to join and provides a safe online community for young people in Hertfordshire.
The website has been designed to support young people with a wide range of abilities. As well as involving young people in the design of the site, we have consulted with professionals supporting young people with learning difficulties and disabilities and developed picture icons to meet their needs.
Channel Mogo has produced a set of session plans to enable you to support young people in getting the most out of this exciting new resource. These can be used in the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum, but also the site provides opportunities for young people to explore creative writing and music in other parts of the curriculum.

Discussion Boards and Chat Room
There are two levels of discussion forum on the site. The first type is the discussion boards which allow young people to discuss non contentious topics at any time and these are moderated in an unintrusive way. The second type is the chat room area which has been set up to allow highly moderated discussion of more serious topics and perhaps difficult issues. If you would like to set up a group you will need to contact the administrator.
What's on in Herts?
An interactive map enables young people to search for building based projects/activities near to where they live.
You will see an interactive map on the first screen, with icons for Hertfordshire’s ten districts down the left hand side of the screen. There are two ways of getting information; either type in a postcode and the website will give details of all building based youth projects in the area. Alternatively, click on the district icon and find out what activities and events are available locally, including contact numbers. Whichever method is used young people can be sure that the information is current as the site is regularly updated.
Reviews and Galleries
Young people can create animated videos and music clips and submit them for the site. A Music Gallery provides local young bands with a chance to showcase their music via vidcasts and mp3 downloads and there are also reviews of local events. Young people can contribute to the galleries by submitting their own creative stories, book and film reviews and music.
Each month a new competition for young people is posted on to the site, sponsored by youth providers and projects.
Freshly Squeezed
This area provides organisations and young people with an opportunity to promote new projects, things to do, how to get involved etc. There is a review section and a gallery where young people can submit contributions to the site.
Competitions
The site will host a number of surveys and competitions so that Children and Young People's Services across the county are able to consult with young people and gain feedback from them.
