Introduction
The Welwyn
Hatfield Crime Prevention Panel and the Design and Technology Team
at Wheathampstead have joined together for the Hertfordshire Crime
Prevention Challenge 2003-2004.
The challenge is aimed at providing Key Stage 4 Design and
Technology students with opportunity to design and make a
solution to a real situation, problem or need, set by a real
organisation as a part of their GCSE Coursework. The Hertfordshire
Crime Prevention Challenge has been specifically designed
to form a part of the students coursework whilst giving them
the added enrichment provided by competition. Students wishing
to take part in the project are invited to design and make
a security device that will protect a building; a means of
transport or an item of personal property, or show how design
changes could improve the security of an existing part of
the built environment such as an area of a school, a restaurant
or a shop.
