Working in partnership to support all children and young people in Hertfordshire to achieve health and well being.

We can offer bespoke training, support and guidance in planning for and delivering a high quality Dance curriculum.

Training can be whole school, departmental or individual, catering for foundation stage to KS5.

Support could include:

  • Practical, non threatening, interactive training for teachers, subject leaders, TAs and NQT’s at KS1 & 2 including the "TOP Dance" and Val Sabin programmes.
  • At KS3, 4 & 5 support can be offered for Dance teachers on leadership, curriculum design, GCSE and A Level, lesson planning, schemes of work, assessment and subject delivery.
  • Subject  specialist mentoring and monitoring packages for secondary dance NQT’s and GTs
  • Departmental reviews
  • Advice can also be given on resources, equipment, facilities and performance opportunities for pupils and teachers

Training and CPD for Dance in Hertfordshire has been recognised nationally as best practice and delegates frequently rate their training as good or outstanding. By attending training or organising CPD in your school, teachers will be able to deliver high quality Dance.

Getting started with GCSE or A Level Dance

Looking at the key sections of the specification and what you need to know to get you started.
Approx. time required: 3 hours

Co-observations

With the agreement of colleagues in the department, an opportunity for heads or aspiring heads of Dance and Expressive/Performing Arts to carry out joint observations and feedback with the Dance Adviser. This will help moderate judgements and provide support with giving effective feedback.
Approx. time required: A minimum of 2 hours to include 1 observation, post-observation discussion and feedback

Reviewing schemes of work

A session to review schemes of work at any key stage with teachers delivering curriculum Dance.
Approx. time required: 2-3 hours
