Top Dance Initiative – Key Stage 1 & 2 Curriculum Training
Top Dance (supported by Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust) has been developed to support the teaching and learning of dance activities in Key Stage 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum and will enable teachers to improve the skills and knowledge and understanding of pupils in line with the Physical Education National Curriculum 2000.
The format of Tops Dance is similar to the other Tops products. Resource cards, a handbook and accompanying CD will be available to schools who have received a comprehensive training programme.
The cards are based around five themes:
Words, Words, Words
Counting on You
Visual Image
Sounds Like
Times and Places
A large number of our Hertfordshire schools have successfully undertaken the initial training in the last eight years and has recently been delivered as part of the National Professional Programme for Physical Education and School Sport – one of the eight strands of the Government-funded PESSCL Strategy (PE and Schools Sport Links).
