Scenario
  • To introduce dance in to the KS3 curriculum.
  • To teach model lessons to year 7 and year 8, to team teach with Laura Smith (Head of Drama) and to share and develop appropriate schemes of work.

Staff Outcomes

  • All pupils were very enthusiastic and receptive to the dance introduced to them, a piece of dance work and a dvd were developed out of the lessons with year 8. The boys performed at the Hertfordshire Secondary PE Conference and the Head of Drama is now more confident in her ability to deliver good quality dance at KS3.
  • “Amanda’s enthusiasm and subject knowledge inspired both myself and the students.” Laura Smith, Head of Drama.

Pupil Outcomes

  • The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have produced their own work which was of a very high standard and extremely creative. Pupils were fully engaged and enjoyed a different way of working creatively.
  • “The boys had their eyes opened to how exciting dance can be and broke down their stereotypes.” Laura Smith, Head of Drama.

Progress

Dance will now be taught to the pupils within the KS3 curriculum with a possibility of GCSE Dance being introduced in the future.
