INTRAN – Best use of translation and interpreting service

Hertfordshire Development Centre, Robertson House, Stevenage

Morning session: 9.30am to 12.45pm or afternoon session: 1.30pm to 4.45pm

The sessions are informative and interactive, with a mix of demonstrations, observing role play
and opportunities for discussion.

This FREE half-day training is suitable for everyone including school staff, teachers, managers, front line and support staff. 

Main objectives of the course are to help attendees:

  • Identify the needs of diverse customers and clients
  • Decide the most efficient and effective service to use i.e. telephone
  • Interpreting, face to face interpreting, and/or written translations
  • Understand how to access INTRAN services in HCC
  • Understand the roles of both the interpreter and the member of staff
  • Apply effective tips on “good practice” when communicating across language barriers
  • Actively try and retrieve comments and feedback from your client
