KS4 Catalogue of Alternative ProvisionOn 1st September the KS4 Alternative Provision Catalogue for schools and education support centres went live on hertschoices. Alternative providers entered on the catalogue have been centrally commissioned and quality assured. This covers insurance, health and safety, safeguarding and CRB. Under commissioning legislation schools should purchase the provision from the catalogue only. For further information on the tendering process go to: The catalogue has been developed in partnership with Connexions, Hertfordshire's Learning and Skills Council and CSF teams. The 14-19 Strategy team is responsible for the contract management and quality assurance of such provision. Alternative provision is for learners who are unlikely to successfully complete a full time education in school e.g. vulnerable young people, school refusers, those at risk of exclusion or likely to be in the NEET category at the end of Year 11. To access it go to: and click on Alt Provision on the menu bar and login in with altpass. There are three further rounds of commissioning taking place between now and March 2009 and a project co-ordinator is being appointed to actively encourage and recruit providers to build this Catalogue. We are looking for programmes that demonstrate progression, achievement and participation, show innovative and creative approaches to teaching and learning and where the learning takes place in different environments. The KS4 Alternative Provision Information Sheet acts as a reminder of the initiative:
