2012 14-19 Annual Conference: Raising the Participation Age Updated

Venue: Hertfordshire Development Centre, Stevenage.

'This is the fifth Annual 14-19 Conference.  This year our keynote speakers are The Rt. Hon. The Baroness Estelle Morris, and Steve Besley, Head of Policy, Pearson Education International. There will also be a variety of workshops (watch this space for details). Our conferences are aimed at encouraging collaboration, sharing best practice and providing updates in the 14-19 sector. By attending this conference you will:

  • Be given an update on the latest local and national developments related to Raising of the Participation Age.
  • Have an opportunity to attend workshops focussing on 14+ transition and progression pathways.
  • Hear about the challenges and solutions to implementing RPA in a county with 94.7% participation at 16.
  • Network with colleagues from across all sectors and gather new resources to support the work in your organisations.=

The Conference will be of particular interest to Head Teachers, Deputy Heads, Heads of Sixth Form, Key Stage 4 Leaders, Curriculum Leaders, FE Colleges and WBL Providers and CEIAG colleagues, however all are welcome.

Cost:: £75 (Delegates representing organisations with a base in Hertfordshire: £50).

2011 Presentations

The aim of the conference was to inform and challenge thinking on the education and training world post Wolf and the future key developments which will impact on the 14-19 age group. Speakers included Ken Spours (Institute of Education), Sarah Mclean (Department of Education) and Andrew Simmons (Deputy Director, Services for Children & Young People, HCC).

A series of workshops led by experts in their field covered Apprenticeships in Action, Careers Guidance 2012, Focusing on NEETs, Post 16 Funding, LDD and SEN Green Paper Update, Working in Partnership and Widening Participation activities offered by the University of Hertfordshire.

2010 Presentations

Held at the Hertfordshire Development Centre on the 16th November 2010 the 2010 annual conference theme was Widening and Increasing Participation and covered the latest developments regarding widening and increasing participation for all young people 14-19 (25 for LLDD) from the national and local perspective.
