Emerging Leaders

Provide opportunities for fast-track teachers to undertake whole school responsibilities for relevant career progression (e.g. AST, ET)

Support professional development of middle leaders through the school’s CPD policy e.g. attendance at training within and beyond school
Offer opportunities for shadowing of senior leaders and headteachers and secondments to senior leadership team
Provide coaching and mentoring opportunities to develop leadership skills
Provide opportunities and training for performance management/reviewer responsibility
Provide opportunities for leading whole school initiative and developing leadership skills

Senior Leadership Team |
Delegate and rotate leadership roles within senior leadership team to ensure wide range of experience and skill development
Offer training and opportunities to coach others
Provide experience of active participation in working with governors
Provide opportunities to assume acting headteacher role in Head’s absence

Governing Body to work with the Head and SLT to develop and establish a shared vision for whole school development
Governing Body to facilitate new HT induction and support from LA and National College

- Provide resources to support headteacher’s performance management/development/work life balance
- Support distributed leadership structure to enable headteachers to focus on strategic school priorities
Senior leadership team support headteachers in operational and strategic running of the school

Provide support for head to take increased role beyond the school
Support the distributed leadership culture within the school to aid and facilitate succession planning
