Primary Headteachers' Conference 2012

11th - 12th October 2012
The De Vere, Brighton

Title: 'Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out'

James Conant's quote 'Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out' still resonates today. We face uncertainties that are challenging and will require a positive attitude toward change and a willingness to take risks in order to move forward. It is always easy to go into our shells and go about things as we always have. There is a lot of comfort in the past and in doing what is routine and uncontroversial. Progress and growth come to those who "stick their necks out" and try new things.

The annual residential conference is a must. Planned by headteachers for headteachers, it is an ideal opportunity to hear leading experts, pick up new ideas and network with other Hertfordshire headteachers.

The keynote speakers this year are:

Sir Ranulph Fiennes, OBE British adventurer

Andrew Curran, Neurologist - brain based learning

James Nottingham, Dweck mindsets

Richard Wiseman, Psychology of luck

Justin Donovan, Herts/National perspective
