Starting Up a Breakfast Club at Your School

Through the Childcare Act 2006 the Local Authority has a duty to provide sufficient childcare to allow parents to remain or return to work. Coupled with the government’s Extended School’s agenda where childcare (primary) is a core service, Young in Herts who support childcare settings in the County has produced a guide for school’s to assist them in setting up breakfast clubs within their school.

This guide will give you information on what is involved in setting up a Breakfast Club in your school including the structure your club could take, how to establish a need for your club, staffing and funding Young in Herts can offer you.

The guide also contains contact details of District Partnership Team Officers who will support you as you open your Breakfast Club and other helpful sources of information which will allow you to make informed choices when you start your club.
