Requirement for Safeguarding Training“Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education”, DfES 2006 sets out clearly that all staff and volunteers working with children in the school setting must receive safeguarding training every three years. The Designated Senior Person for Child Protection in the school must receive appropriate training to enable them to fulfil their specific role and responsibilities. Training must be updated every two years. School Governors should be aware of their role and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and attend training so that they can discharge their statutory duties under the Education Act 2002. Head teachers are advised that training is available to assist them in reducing and managing allegations against school staff and volunteers.
