Outline

This one day course is designed to assist headteachers, chairs and vice chairs of governors in dealing effectively with allegations against staff and promoting safe working practice by school staff, thereby reducing the risk of allegations of inappropriate conduct and harm to children.

Outcomes

By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes an allegation, how allegations arise, and the process of allegations management, including the role of the designated senior manager and the local authority designated officer
  • manage allegations in accordance with the Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Board Inter-Agency Child Protection Procedures
  • iidentify areas of vulnerability in staff practice and develop ideas about how to address these vulnerabilities
