Duty of School to ParticipateSchools and other education settings are required to participate in the Child Protection Conference process, in accordance with:
Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education (paragraph 2.27) requires that:- “Sufficient resources and time are allocated to enable the designated person and other staff to discharge their responsibilities, including taking part in strategy discussions and other inter-agency meetings, and contributing to the assessment of children” There is provision of funding for supply cover for teachers who attend Child Protection Conferences or Core Groups (Form TE 006) If a member of school staff attends a Child Protection Conference or Core Group meeting the school may claim the cost of up to a half-day supply cover. It should be stressed that, although Children Schools and Families invite schools to attend many different types of meeting, supply cover is only available for attendance at Child Protection Conferences and Core Groups. Schools should make claims on the Supply Teacher Pay Claim Form (Form TE 006) stating reference CPC as the reason for cover. Those schools not using SERCO Services should invoice the Head of Child Protection. The time, date and venue for Conference must be submitted.
