Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The SEN Advisory Team plays an important role in supporting school effectiveness. The team provides monitoring, challenge, intervention and support for schools in developing high quality
inclusive provision, often in collaboration with other colleagues from Standards and School Effectiveness. The Team consists of advisers and leading SENCos, all of whom have substantial experience in leadership and management roles in schools.

A key aspect of the team’s role is providing a variety of professional development opportunities for all school and LA staff, to ensure the achievement of all pupils, particularly those with SEN and/or disabilities and those who are gifted and talented.

Through Hertfordshire’s SEN / Inclusion Strategy, the team also links with wider CSF staff, including those with pupil focussed roles, to help develop local clusters and networks for SEN
and participate in local decision-making. It contributes to the work of regional and national groups, to identify and disseminate good practice and assist the Local Authority in meeting its
statutory duty.
