Schools Library Service and County Art Collection

Schools Library Service

The Schools Library Service (SLS) benefits all pupils by adding value to the School Library.

The service:

  • Promotes the development of school libraries through providing all children with access to a wide range of resources.
  • Advises schools on the role of the library in creating confident, enthusiastic readers and in engaging children in the lifelong learning process.

Traded services

  • Stimulating and relevant resources selected to enhance learning in school including:
    • Long-term loans for the school library
    • Non-fiction projects and fiction packs
    • Information service (secondary)
    • Book purchase

    Prices start from £731

  • Advisory services and training to:
    • Create motivated learners and confident and enthusiastic readers
    • Support the strategic development of the library
    • Ensure Continuing Professional Development for library staff
    • Make practical improvements to library stock and environment

    Prices from £64 per hour (advisory day rate is £297)

The County Art Collection

The County Art Collection operates as a loan service for Hertfordshire schools. All schools in Hertfordshire are eligible to use the Collection with the exception of privately run schools.
There is no charge to schools wishing to use the service.
