Schools' HR Advice Service
This service became part of Standards and School Effectiveness in April 2007. The former
employment contracts service is now handled by the School Transactions team which is part of
Herts HR, based at County Hall.
Each school - nursery, primary, secondary and special – has a named HR Manager who is
responsible for the delivery of the HR Advice service.
Traded services
- Individual casework support to Headteachers and Governors in relation to discipline,
capability, grievance and bullying and harassment
- Support for organisational change, including staffing reductions, redundancies
and retirements
- Advice on employment law, supported by the county’s legal team, and conditions
of service
- Support in health and attendance casework
- Publication of model policies and procedures on the matters listed above
- Casework advice by telephone, email or personal visit, as necessary
Centrally funded services
- Management of early retirement scheme for teachers
n Support for school places planning and implementation, including school closures
and amalgamations
- Support for Building Schools for the Future
- Advice to the Director of CSF on major projects, including children’s centres and
extended services
- Consultation with trade unions and professional associations
