Software Installation

There is a wealth of curriculum software available, and Hertfordshire ICT Curriculum Consultants can advise on the best choice to meet the needs of your school's ICT development plan, and how to enhance provision for particular key stages. To contact ICT curriculum advisers, e-mail: ict.consultants@hertscc.gov.uk or ring 01582 830325

Before installing additional software to your network, make sure that you have the appropriate licenses that permit you to use this; schools should keep an audit of those purchased, whether pre-installed or added to the system and how many users are allowed. Discounted educational and multi-user licenses are available from Hertfordshire Purchasing Services.

Ensure that the software you plan to install will work with your operating system, that you have sufficient space and memory to run it. Older software may not run on Windows XP. Be aware of ongoing developments, particularly with school management information software, which has frequent upgrades to keep up with increasing demands.

Loading software across a network can be complicated, and may need technical expertise to ensure compatibility between applications. SITSS networks support help-desk can advise, or installations can be booked. Link to Support Contracts & Services for price details.
