Workforce Data CollectionThe School Workforce Census is a statutory return to collect Staff Data and submitted to the DCSF. This is an annual return and is due to be submitted on Thursday 4th November 2010. Personnel 7 has been written to produce the information required for The School Workforce Census in a similar way to a School Census return. The required fields for the return are in the Personnel 7 Handbook. If successful the Workforce Data Collection will replace several surveys currently in use e.g. 618G, Annual School Census – Staff Data, Teachers Pay Survey etc. More information can be found on the School Workforce area of the Grid. http://www.thegrid.org.uk/schoolworkforce/census/index.shtml Adding Unqualified Teachers Allowance (All Schools and Academies)

Subject Codes for QualificationsAC codes for qualifications are listed in this spreadsheet supplied by DfE. Schools are advised to use the High Level Subject Code where possible for the recording of qualifications in preparation for School Workforce Census unless the correct JAC code can be identified. Schools may choose to hold these qualifications for all teaching assistants and other support staff, and should be aware that these may be returned to the Department and used for research and statistical purposes. The JACS codeset does not include the subjects of all qualifications, particularly those that were gained some time ago. If it is not possible to find an appropriate JACS code or corresponding Subject Code then schools and LAs should leave the Subject Codes blank rather than try to assign a “best fit”. The Department is exploring how such subjects could be recorded for the 2011 collection. In the meantime, it accepts that subject information may not be provided for all qualifications."
