Primary Assessment Manager
Assessment Manager 7
At present, many schools are using a variety of third party programs to track their pupils’ assessments. These programs not only have an additional cost, but also require installation and may involve an import/export routine with Sims .net in order to populate them with pupil names and details. As an alternative, Assessment Manager 7 (AM7) in Sims .net is free (i.e. it is included in your Sims licence) and gives you access to all the pupil details in the Sims .net database and so requires no refreshing when pupils arrive or leave.
AM7 is the ideal tool for recording your pupil’s assessments in a seamless manner. This module provides a means of recording a pupil's marks, grades and other scores to meet the school's day-to-day assessment needs and the statutory assessment requirements of the National Curriculum. It supports good practice in all schools since it can be used in conjunction with a consistent whole-school assessment policy.
Some of the benefits of using Assessment Manager in your school:
- Maintains a historical record of individual assessments over time allowing powerful analysis of that data.
- Facilitates the monitoring and tracking of pupil attainment over time.
- 'Offline' data entry is available after Assessment Manager Marksheets have been exported to Excel spreadsheets. These are easily imported back into the system
- Individual pupil reports produced using the functionality of Microsoft Word Mail Merge including free text comments.
- Individual reports generated in Assessment Manager are available from the SIMS .net Pupil Record directly – no more searching for paper copies
In addition to this, SITSS have created a set of templates, in conjunction with the Primary strategy advisors and the Assessment team, which can be imported into AM7, and once marksheets have been created then assessments can be entered for each of the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms for English, Maths, Science and ICT. This data can then be analysed and reported on in a variety of ways simply by running Sims .net reports. These reports generate numbers of children at each level, plus distribution sheets showing the children’s names, as well as graphs and progress tracking reports, all with just a few clicks of a mouse! These reports will be of particular use to head teachers, assessment coordinators and teachers.
Any school who is interested in learning more about AM7 should contact the MIS helpdesk on 01438 844777 Option 5 for further information.

HCC Assessment Downloads
The following downloads are available ONLY for schools who have attended our training course and received the HCC Assessment Templates for English, Maths, Science and ICT. You will not be able to use the files without those templates.
Tracking Grids
Tracking Grid Templates are now available to download. These Grids can be used to create Distributions Sheets, like the HCC reports, but have the added advantage that you can filter them by SEN, Ethnicity, FSM etc. Please read the instructions for information on downloading, importing and using the Grids. You only need to import the file applicable to your school phase.
KS1 and KS2 Templates
These templates will allow you to use your Summer assessments for Years 2 and 6 (if you have already entered them) as the basis for their KS1 and KS2 results. The instructions explain how to import and use the templates.

Individual Reports
These reports take the form of record cards, detailing the Assessment history (including KS1 results) for individual pupils. For pupils who took KS1 in 2006 onwards, use the first file. For those who took KS1 in 2005 use the second file. Unfortunately, the reports will not include KS1 results for any pupils who took KS1 prior to 2005. To import, go to Focus > Data In > Assessment Manager > Import and follow the wizard. Instructions for running individual reports are included in the Quick Guides.
AM7 Quick Guides
This is the latest version of the guides, updated for the May release of Sims .net (7.104).
New Combined English Target Setting Templates
These templates allow you to set targets for all the English strands using a single template, rather than separate templates for Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening and Subject Level.
