PAT (Pupil Achievement Tracker)

PAT is diagnostic and analytical software that schools can use as an alternative to Assessment Manager 6 and Performance Analysis 6, for analysing End of Key Stage data.

Teachers can use it to ask questions about the effectiveness of their classroom practice looking at graphical data on the progress made by their pupils; set pupil targets informed by the progress made by similar pupils nationally; and understand fully what pupils can achieve by the diagnostic analysis of test papers.

Headteachers and senior managers can view recent performance against other similar schools to help set development priorities; ask questions about the achievement of different groups within the school; and review the success of different initiatives, particularly through the ability to group pupils and look at their achievement and progress.

Hints and Tips

  • The latest version of PAT is 4.2.5.– the version no. is displayed in the title bar of the program.
  • To check for updates, go to the Help menu and choose Check for Software Updates. If a newer version is found, you will be taken to the DfES PAT website where an upgrade file can be downloaded. You can also go directly to Weblink logo www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/performance/pat to see if an update is available.
  • If you need historical data for PAT, a good source is the Key to Success website at  www.keytosuccess.dfes.gov.uk – you will need your DfES user name and password to access the site.
