New Exam Result Issues and the August Upgrade

This document lists some of the issues that have become apparant from calls to the SITSS helpdesk following the download and import of exams results.
We hope to release the August upgrade to schools by the end of next week or very early in September. If your school is experiencing any of the issues that require patches please let your SIMS System Manager know to request the appropriate patch from SITSS. Patches will need to be applied following the August upgrade.

New SITSS Service Desk - 01438 844777 - 'Revised Menu System'

Please note that there is a revised menu system. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the new menu before selecting an option. There are two layers to the menu system . Layer 1 - Press 1 for Service Desk Support and Press 2 for Administrative Support.
Layer 2 Option 1 directs you to the Service desk - press 1 for MIS (SIMS, Dinner Money, Statutory Returns and eSTART) ,
Press 2 for Network support and Press 3 for Hardware (including new purchase of equipment)
Layer 2 for option 2 directs you to our Administrators, Press 1 for enquires regarding Order, invoices and contracts, Press 2 for enquiries regarding Contracted Technician and Network visits, Press 3 for Courses and General enquiries.
If you select an option that is not available e.g. 5 you should receive a message to say that this is not a valid option. Please reselect a valid option or you will be directed automatically to voice mail. |

New Large OCR Results files into Exams Organiser
13/8/08 Please note we have received several calls concerning the import of large OCR results files into Exams Organiser. This seems to be associated with the performance of some PC's. Our recommendation is that these imports are carried our on High specification workstations or on the Database server itself. If you are experiencing problems with results please call the SITSS Service desk Tel: 01438 844777 and select option 1 from the first menu and option 1 from the second menu.

Update SITSS move and Help Desk Opening Times
The SITSS Service Desk is due to open at 10am Tuesday 12th August 2008. Please call on 01438 844777 and your call be answered or leave a voice mail message if all phones are engaged.
We are experiencing some technical problems at present and may not have all of our regular services available, however, we are anticipating that the telephone system will be working.

Reminder - SITSS move and Help Desk Opening Times
School IT Systems Support will be moving to Stevenage/Welwyn Garden City on the 8th August 2008.
• Help Desk will be closed from 3pm on the Thursday 7th August 2008
• Re-open at 10am on Tuesday 12th August 2008
• Please do not complete any major infrastructure changes or software updates over this period (remember Exam results come out on the 13th August)
• We will communicate via the Hertfordshire Grid for Learning ‘Home Page’ the status of our systems
• An internal review of the change over will be made on Thursday 11th September when the help desk will be closed from 1pm for the afternoon.

Important Exam Result Notice
28/07/2008 Please note there is a patch available from SITSS that will prevent anyone from seeing Exam Results via the Pupil / Links panel on the day Results are downloaded for a 24 hour period. Please log a call with the helpdesk requesting patch 12107. Please leave a moblie or direct phone number that we will be able to contact you on in the event of your school switchboard not being manned. Further documentation including our 'Results Survival Guide' will be posted here well in advance of the result days. These documents can be found here... new |
