Purchasing Decisions

Schools are free to purchase computer equipment from any competitive source. In choosing your equipment, it is important to be aware of future demands to be made on your system, and to ensure optimum performance for those tasks. Specifications from School IT Systems Support are based on our knowledge of new developments within Capita SIMS software, to meet increasing government requirements, and the demands that these will make on computer hardware, as SIMS migrates to Microsoft .Net. If you have SIMS installed onto an RM Connect file server you need to purchase an additional computer before moving to SIMS in SQL.  Click on this link for MIS Information. 

Your decision will also be influenced by the number of pupils in your school, and the number of simultaneous users you may plan to have running SIMS.

Design and Commissioning of Networks

SITSS can provide as much or as little support as you need when designing your school network. Every school is very different and we offer a comprehensive design package. Working with our partners we can survey your school and, in discussion with you, agree the best system to meet your needs, from a bespoke office system to a fully integrated network. We recommend RM network systems because they have the network tools appropriate to a school environment, but will discuss any alternative quotations you may receive. Once a system has been agreed we can project manage the installation and full commissioning of your system.

If you decide to purchase a new office PC from elsewhere, to ensure that you are getting value for money, SITSS would strongly recommend comparing the specification with our current prices. SITSS will request a copy of the PC specification before commencing with any configuration, this will ensure that the PC is up to specification and we will recommend changes if required.
