KS3, KS4 & KS5Road SafetyThere are two PSHE modules for years 7 and 8 – Managing risk on the road and Distractions Pupils need to make safer choices for travel. Understanding risk in both positive and negative terms, pupils learn how to recognise and manage risk to themselves and others in a range of situations Many road traffic accidents are the result of a distraction. Often these distractions are brought about by the use of mobile phones or earphones when out near roads. These dangers are simulated by pupils walking around an obstacle course whilst texting or using a portable music player. The Megadrive ProgrammeThe Megadrive programme is aimed at year 12 students and works to inform, influence and educate young drivers, allowing them to make informed decisions about driving safely. Megadrive is a multi-agency programme run by Hertfordshire County Council’s Road Safety Unit and incorporates Hertfordshire’s Emergency Services, Driving Standards Agency, Trading Standards and Hertfordshire Highways amongst others. It is a one day series of classroom workshops designed to appeal to young adults.
