Precautions to Prevent Swine Flu
We are asking schools to help publicise measures to children and parents to take to prevent infection spreading.
It is sensible to take the following precautions to help prevent the spread of swine flu and other viruses:
- Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible.
- Dispose of dirty tissues promptly and carefully.
- Maintain good basic hygiene, for example washing hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to face or to other people.
- Clean hard surfaces (e.g. door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product.
- Make sure that children also follow this advice.
If you or your child has flu-like symptoms such as a sudden fever, cough, a headache, sore throat, tiredness, aching muscles, sneezing, runny nose or loss of appetite you should contact your GP.
