Improvements to the Schools' Bulletin and Postbag
CSF Communications is continually looking at ways to improve the way HCC communicates with schools. The ICT in Schools Partnership Working Group have approved the change to the current system for sending electronic versions of the schools bulletin. From Monday 20 October all schools will receive a weekly email via the HCC email school address book (head@ and admin@) with a direct link to the bulletin on the HGfL website. The email would notify all schools of the latest bulletin to be published.
Schools who currently receive a paper copy of the bulletin would continue to receive this, but will also receive the email. If you wish to receive an additional email to a different address please notify hannah.broady@hertscc.gov.uk.
Benefits to schools
- The new system is safe, reliable and efficient. Schools are now guaranteed to get the email and can easily click through and select the relevant bulletin or article.
- The links within the bulletins are robust and reliable and can be forwarded to staff as required.
- There will be a simple route to CSF Communications so you can send us feedback, ask questions and opt out of the paper version if you wish.
- The weekly email can be tailored to highlight urgent and important messages and could potentially reduce all additional ‘all school’ emails.
- We will publicise this extensively within HCC to ensure the Schools Bulletin remains the key vehicle for Departments to communicate with schools.
This is the first step in our improvement programme. We are also proposing to review the content of the bulletin and schools post bag and provide more postbag items electronically. Please email your feedback on this to sharon.robinson@hertscc.gov.uk.
Important changes to the external mail
We have already made some changes in our bid to reduce the burden on schools. HCC is no longer offering a distribution service to external organisations who send us literature and flyers for the schools' postbag. As well as the time and cost involved we received feedback that important communication was being lost among promotional literature. To ensure that schools can still access this information we are arranging to load the approved flyers onto the Grid (see link below). Companies will of course still be able to mail schools direct.
