TIPD Briefing 2007

14 June 2007 - 4.00pm Start
at Hertfordshire Development Centre

Calling all schools wishing to send teachers on an International Study Visit in 2007/2008!

We are about to enter Year 8 of Teachers’ International Professional Development (TIPD)!  During the past seven years we have had 35 successful trips giving this marvellous opportunity to 357 Hertfordshire teachers and advisers (each trip comprises a LA Lead Adviser plus 9 teachers – two or three teachers per school).

The study visits take place during the school holiday periods.

The scheme draws together networks of schools, teachers and Local Authorities to work in partnership to examine models of good practice, to engage and share in professional dialogue with colleagues across the world and to demonstrate that what happens in the classroom can be influenced by positive examples from overseas.

The importance attached to the programme is reflected in the level of funding it receives – flights, insurance, accommodation, and internal travel in the destination country are all paid for.  A per school contribution of £200 payable to the Local Authority to cover administration of the scheme is the only cost to schools.

Briefing

A TIPD Briefing for interested schools and advisers will be held at Wheathampstead on 14 June 2007 at 16.00 for 16.15.  The aim of the briefing is to fully inform prospective applicants about the scheme prior to applying.

Application forms will be handed out at the meeting.

The closing date for TIPD applications is Thursday 28th June 2007 and the outcome will be notified shortly after this date.
