East of England Regional Training Network

The network comprises a planning team drawn from the local authorities in the East of England.  The Hertfordshire representative is Kari Esterhuizen.  The Partnership Co-ordinator and Chairman is Geoff Scaplehorn, Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region, ACER, Tel: 01480-468198.

The Network aims to:

  • Widen participation of teachers in the region in Regional Training Network activities
  • Publicise examples of good practice throughout the region
  • Encourage the implementation of the international dimension in more institutions in the East of England at regional, county and establishment level, and by facilitators within establishments
  • Encourage the region’s establishments to participate more fully in national and international projects and initiatives.

Activities include:

  • Socrates II briefing sessions
  • Annual conference
  • Promotion of published and non-published materials plus Primary and Secondary European Treasure Chests
  • Resourcing Citizenship initiatives
  • Promoting Teachers’ International Professional Development (TIPD)
  • The post-16 International Curriculum
  • The International School Award scheme

The network enables local authorities in the region to share expertise and offer free in-service training to teachers in all counties in the East of England.

A list of free in-service training sessions for the academic year 2006/2007 will be posted at the beginning of the new academic year in September 2006.
