The Herts MEd in Leading Teaching & Learning

This course is designed to contribute to the raising of the level of pupil achievement in Hertfordshire schools through improvement in the quality of teaching and learning.  The theme ‘Leading Teaching & Learning’ has been chosen as the particular focus because this constitutes the primary function of schools and should be the central focus of school improvement efforts.

The aim is to enable participants to develop the knowledge and skills that will enable them to lead and support school-based development projects and contribute to the development of professional knowledge across the County.

2011– 2013 Programme

The HertsCam MEd is a two-year, part-time course for teachers, headteachers and other educational workers within Hertfordshire. Applications are welcome from all sectors including primary, secondary and special schools, both state and independent, as well as related educational contexts such as pupil referral units, nurseries and special centres.

2011-2013 Programme

Recruitment is about to begin for the two-year part-time course starting September 2011 and leading to the award of the Master of Education degree in Leading Teaching and Learning. 

The programme runs from September 2011 to July 2013.  It is important that participants are able to attend the residential conferences and evening sessions.

The evening sessions will normally take place:

Tuesdays between 4.30 pm and 7.30 pm at schools located in the Stevenage area.

The pattern of sessions each term will be:

One Friday/Saturday residential conference in Cambridge and four or five sessions (4.30 pm – 7.30 pm) normally based in Stevenage

17 May 2011 - Birchwood High School, Bishops Stortford, 4.30pm - 5.30pm

Graduation Ceremonies

The 2007 – 2009 cohort of HertsCam MEd in Leading Teaching and Learning at their Graduation in May 2010.

The ceremony itself took place at the Cambridge University Senate House and the cohort celebrated with their families and friends at Wolfson College Cambridge.
