Hertfordshire Learning Platform UpgradeImportant information regarding the Hertfordshire Learning Platform - Upgrade of your Learning Plaform to a new service called DX2RM are currently in the process of upgrading the Kaleidos Learning Platform to a new service called DX2, which will bring with it a host of new features. For example, if you’re using Kaleidos in multiple establishments or have several roles you’ll be able to do so using just one account. That means that once you have created new accounts and matched them you could be a teacher in one school and a parent in another, or a student studying in two schools, all with one username and password. When will the upgrade happen? For your school the upgrade to Kaleidos is taking place between 16th July 2010 and 9th August 2010. What does the upgrade involve? The good news is that RM do all the hard work so there’s nothing you need to do for this upgrade. You need to be aware though that between the dates above any changes in the schools MIS system will not be reflected in the Hertfordshire Learning Platform until the upgrade is completed. What will happen next?During the migration period we will suspend the provisioning service for your Learning Platform. This means that your MIS uploads will be suspended in preparation for the upgrade. However during this period the data will be stored and when the provisioning service is restarted any changes will be uploaded as usual. We will then send you a final communication following the completion of the migration. Is there any downtime?During the majority of the upgrade all users will be able to continue using Kaleidos as they would normally. However there will be one short period of a few minutes towards the end of the dates above when we will need to make the service unavailable. We aim to carry out this step outside of school hours and therefore minimise any interruption to your users. What do I need to do next? You may wish to notify all members of staff about the migration and that they may experience a short period of unavailability particularly if they are using the service outside of hours. How will I know it is complete? We will send you an email once the upgrade has been completed. There is nothing further the school needs to do. Once the upgrade is complete the schools Learning Platform administrator will have some new options available to them which are described in full in the link below. How do I find out more? For a more complete picture you can find out more about DX2 and what it means for you by having a look here: Whilst there you’ll also find an introduction for teaching staff and pupils, an introduction for administrators, and a full guide providing the details of all new functionality offered by DX2. Following the upgrade, any support issues should be escalated to the support team in the usual way.
