Key Stage 3 National Strategy

Aims to raise standards in the early years of secondary education by strengthening teaching and learning across the curriculum. The five subject strands are: English, Mathematics, Science, ICT and ‘foundation subjects’.

Following advice from QCA, 14-19 Green Paper responses and representations from teacher associations and individual practitioners, Ministers have decided to retain each of the six-unit foundation and intermediate GNVQs until the regulatory authorities establish that there are suitable alternatives available.
